Jordan and I spent an incredible week in the Canadian Rockies, exploring mountains, lakes and meadows! We chose to celebrate our anniversary a few months early so that we could enjoy Banff in its peak summer season. From the amazing hospitality of our host, to the breathtaking scenery of the whole area, we couldn’t have asked for a better week!
Day One: Banff Town
We explored the town on our first day before we checked in at our Airbnb.
Highlights: Lunch at Banff Ave. Brewing Co., exploring the local shops, seeing a herd of elk
Day Two: Lake Louise & Moraine Lake
On our first full day in Banff, we hiked around Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.
Highlights: Moraine Lake (unbelievably blue), and the ground squirrel we made friends with at Lake Louise
Day Three: Johnston Canyon, Sunshine Meadows & Two Jack Lake
We did some more hiking this day! We just missed a grizzly bear at Sunshine Meadows, but saw a black bear on our way to Johnston
Later in the evening we went to Two Jack Lake with the hopes of catching a sunset. It was cloudy but still beautiful!
Day Four: Columbia Icefields Parkway
This drive was amazing! We saw Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, the Athabasca Glacier, and walked on the Icefields Skywalk, which is a full glass walkway over a 950 ft. drop!
Day Five: Kanaskis & Banff Town
We started an 11 mile hike in back country, but I was too afraid of bears so we turned back 2 miles in lol. We saw a grizzly bear from the car on our way back!
Instead we went to Banff town to explore, have dinner and get tattoos!
